Understanding Digital Product Cancellation
What "Cancellation" Means for SpendLite
Since SpendLite is software that runs entirely in your browser, cancellation involves:
- Licence deactivation — We revoke your licence key
- Access removal — The app stops working after deactivation
- Refund processing — Your payment is reversed (if within 7 days)
- Data handling — You decide what happens to your local data
What We DON'T Mean by "Return"
Unlike physical products, you can't "ship back" software. There's no:
- Box to return or shipping labels needed
- Restocking fees or return shipping costs
- Waiting for us to "receive" the product back
- Quality checks or condition requirements
How to Cancel Your SpendLite Licence
Step 1: Backup Your Data (Optional)
Before cancelling, you might want to:
- Click "Download Backup" in SpendLite to save your data
- Export any reports or charts you've created
- Take screenshots of insights you want to keep
Remember: Your data lives only on your device. Once you clear your browser data, it's gone forever unless you've backed it up.
Step 2: Request Cancellation
Send an email to hello@spendlite.in with:
- Subject: "Cancellation Request - [Your Order ID]"
- Your registered email address
- Order ID from your purchase confirmation
- Confirmation that you've backed up any data you need
Step 3: We Acknowledge Within 24 Hours
You'll receive confirmation including:
- Your cancellation reference number
- Refund eligibility status (within/outside 7-day window)
- Next steps and timeline
Step 4: Processing (Within 3 Business Days)
We'll complete the following:
- Deactivate your licence key in our system
- Process refund via Razorpay (if eligible)
- Send final confirmation email
- Remove you from any mailing lists (unless you opt to stay)
Your Data After Cancellation
What Happens to Your Financial Data?
Nothing — because we never had it! Your bank statements and transaction data exist only in your browser. You control what happens:
- Keep it: Data remains until you clear browser storage
- Delete it: Clear your browser's site data for spendlite.in
- Archive it: Use "Download Backup" before cancelling
How to Delete Local Data
Chrome/Edge:
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Site Settings
- View permissions and data stored across sites
- Search for "spendlite.in"
- Click "Delete data"
Firefox:
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Manage Data
- Search for "spendlite.in"
- Remove Selected
Safari:
- Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Search for "spendlite.in"

Cancellation Without Refund
If you're outside the 7-day refund window but still want to cancel:
- We'll deactivate your licence upon request
- No refund will be processed
- You keep lifetime access until you actively cancel
- Consider keeping it — you've already paid, and updates are free!
Special Situations
Pre-Launch Cancellations
Ordered during early-access but want to cancel before September 1, 2025 launch?
- Full refund guaranteed, no questions asked
- The 7-day policy starts from actual delivery date, not purchase date
- Changed your mind during the wait? That's perfectly fine!
Technical Inability to Use
If SpendLite doesn't work on your device/browser despite our requirements:
- We'll work with you to find a solution first
- If unsolvable, full refund regardless of time elapsed
- We'll document the issue to help future customers
Bulk/Corporate Licences
For bulk purchases (5+ licences):
- Individual licence cancellation available
- Unused licences fully refundable within 30 days
- Partial refunds calculated per unused licence
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I pause instead of cancel?
A: Since SpendLite is a one-time purchase (not a subscription), there's nothing to pause. Keep it installed and use it whenever you want — no ongoing costs!
Q: What if I cancel by mistake?
A: Contact us immediately! If it's within 24 hours of cancellation, we can usually restore your licence without requiring a new purchase.
Q: Can someone else use my cancelled licence?
A: No, cancelled licences are permanently deactivated. But we offer licence transfers BEFORE cancellation if you'd prefer to gift it to someone.
Q: Do I need to uninstall anything?
A: SpendLite is a web app — nothing to uninstall! Just clear your browser data for spendlite.in if you want to remove all traces.
Q: Will you delete my purchase history?
A: We retain purchase records for 7 years per Indian tax law, but we delete all marketing preferences and remove you from promotional emails immediately.
